Flyball is a team sport designed for high-energy dogs and their owners. Your dog will learn the basic pattern of jumping 4 jumps, executing a "Swimmer's Turn" (see the photo of Isaac above), retrieving a ball and returning over the jumps. Check out the sport at .

We also urge you to attend the New River Rapids flyball tournament, which we'll be hosting in the gymnasium at the Blacksburg Community Center on Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3, 2016.   Admission free and leashed spectator dogs welcome. 

Foundations for Flyball

We're trying something different with Foundations for Flyball this summer.  We're going to do  a one-session Foundations on Saturday, May 21 from 2-4 p.m.   It will be a session for getting  to know and your dog, including recalls to you, interest in a ball, and being able to be handled by someone other than the dog's owner.

Beginner Flyball

For teams who have successfully completed Foundations for Flyball, training continues with our 7-week Beginner Flyball class.

This class expands on the Foundation class skills and introduces you and your dog to the jumps and the box turn. 

Seven class sessions.  Cost:  $70.   Classes will be held on Saturday afternoons, beginning June 11.   There will be some Saturdays when class is not held because our competition schedule.

Intermediate Flyball

For teams who have successfully completed Beginner Flyball, training continues with our 4-week Intermediate Flyball class.

The intermediate class will hone your dog's Flyball course skills, learning the basics of passing and of performing a race.

Four Class sessions.  Cost:  $40*.   Classes will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings, beginning after the Beginner class.  *The $40 fee for Intermediate Flyball will be credited to your racing fees once you and your dog begin competing!
